Ray Lewis

Joining us on today's episode is NFL Hall of Famer, Superbowl MVP, and former Baltimore Ravens Linebacker Ray Lewis. The odds were not in Ray's favor growing up. He was abandoned by his father, raised by a teenage mother, and was the oldest of five children which forced him to grow up fast. When his family went broke, he moved in with his grandparents while attending Kathleen High School in Lakeland, Florida. It was there where he tapped into his tenacious ability to wrestle and play football. He had coaches come alongside of him and fill the father figure role he always craved. Ray Lewis received the last scholarship available to the University of Miami in 1993. Fast forward to 1996, Ray Lewis was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the first round of the NFL Draft. In 2000, Lewis became the MVP of Superbowl XXXV when the Ravens defeated the New York Giants. He had a storybook ending to his career with another Superbowl (XLVII) victory in 2013 over the San Francisco 49er's. In 2018, Ray Lewis was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame where he gave a stellar speech recollecting the adversity he had to overcome to greet his successes.

Ray Lewis is energetic, inspirational, and passionate! We revisit Superbowl XLVII when the lights went out in the third quarter shortly after Beyonce performed.
